Introduction: My favorite book is in Bangla. There is a rich collection of literature in Bengali language. There are many books of extraordinary caliber. From my boyhood, I have had a special predilection for books of novels. I have always been fond of novels and tried to collect and read good novels. There are many novels I liked very much and read at a stretch. All of them are very favorable to me. To mention some of them are: Sharat Chandra Chattopaddhaya’s “Devdas”, “Sreekanta”, Bibhuti Bhushan Bandopaddhaya’s “Pather Panchali”, “Aporajito”, Banoful’s “Chowrangi”, Somoresh Majumder’s “Kalbela”, Syed Mujtaba Ali’s “Deshe Bideshe”, Syed Wali Ullah’s “Lal Salu”, Manik Bandopadhaya’s “Padma Nodir Majhi”, Moitreyi Devi’s “No Hanyote”, Rabindranath Tagore’s “Shesher Kobita”, Humayun Ahmed’s “Shankhanil Karagar”, “Nandito Naroke”, Imdadul Hoque Milon’s “Paradhinota”, Zazabor’s “Drishtipat”, Sanjib Chattopaddhaya’s “Lota Kambol”, etc. If I were asked to choose the most favorite book from these favorites, I would certainly choose Sharat Chandra Chattopaddhaya’s “Sreekanta” in an instant. It is the most special book to me in Bengali Literature.

About My Favorite Book Writer: Sharat Chandra is one of my favorite novelists. I have read almost all the novels written by him. He was a realist and humanist writer. His novels have risen Bengali literature to a great height.

Reasons behind My Choice: When I laid my hands on “Sreekanta” and started reading the book, it seemed to me that I had found a great treasure. It was “Sreekanta” part one. The language of the novel was so forceful and the description was so vivid that I was sort of spellbound. I lost myself in the world of “Sreekanta”. I finished part one of the book in a trance. Soon I collected the second and the third parts of the book and finished them. I was moved by the characters of the book, “Sreekanta” — somewhat naive but with a deep insight and eagerness to learn; Indranath — the bad boy with an extra-large brave heart; Rajlakshmi with her devotion, penance and love for Sreekanta; all were very favorite to me. I also liked the description of events such as Chinal Bahurupi at Sreekanta’s house, fishing expedition with Indranath, on the sheep to Rangoon etc. very much. The novel presented a new world to me and created a permanent place in my heart. The novel enabled me to understand life from the perspective of Sreekanta. It also created a deep insight towards life in me. After reading the book it seemed to me that I was not the person I had been before reading the book.

Conclusion: After and before reading Sreekanta, I have read many other novels but none could shake me so much as Sreekanta did. That is why it is still my favorite book.

My Favorite Book Paragraph in English

By: Haque | Words: 125 | For class 7-8/JSC

My favorite book is Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House on the Prairie“. I read a book of the series when I was a student of Class Eight. From my early boyhood, I had a habit of reading books. One day I went to my school library and was looking for good books. Then one of my teachers recommended the book to me. In fact, it was a Bengali translation of the book by Atowar Rahman. Its Bengali name was “Ghasher Bone Chotto Kutir”. In the book, the writer described her childhood days in the calm and serene environment of the prairie. It was something that incited my imagination greatly. Afterward, I read many good books but none could influence me so much as the book did.
